The Knitting Workshop is part of a set of workshops open to the community that intend to be

a learning and leisure experience.

The two Knitting Workshops that take place in the academic year 2019-2020 focus on providing the basic of knitting techniques (knit and purl stitches) and the development of collective (a Christmas cap)

and individual projects.

1st Knitting Workshop

In the last session of the first Knitting Workshop, a partnership between VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa, we finished our beanies. We even got a certificate! We closed them up, and some of us chose to add a pompon at the top. The beanies are ready to be given at Christmas. Who’s thinking about signing up for the next Knitting Workshop? Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all the followers of this project!	Today was the last but one session of the Knitting Workshop, a project that results from a partnership between VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa. Many of the participants have theirs beanies practically finished, as it can be seen in the picture. They still need some finishing details but we expect for the beanies to be ready by Christmas. See you next Wednesday, for the last session of this first Knitting Workshop!	The 4th session of the Knitting Workshop was on the first Wednesday of December. We are all eager to finish our beanies and we have been knitting both in the workshop and at home. One of the beanies is already finished and next week there surely will be plenty more to show.
Today, 27th November, was the third session of the Knitting Workshop. We were knitting the ribbed pattern of the beanie, with two purl stitches followed by two knit stitches. The picture shows the work we have been developing. Some of us are still in an initial phase; others are more advanced; but each one follows their own pace. See you next Wednesday!	Today, 20th November, was the 2nd session of the Knitting Workshop promoted by VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa. Our main goals were to assemble the knitting sequences and to learn purl and knit stitches to start to knit the ribbed pattern of the beanie. The rib stitch consists of columns of knit stitches alternating with columns of purl stitches, which in addition to finishing gives elasticit. See you next Wednesday!	The 1st session of the Knitting Workshop had 17 participants and their opinions were joyful. Both VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa presented their projects, after which we started to spin skeins of yarn with the knitting umbrella swift ant to roll them into balls either using our hands – in the traditional way – or the ball winder. Next Wednesday we will create the first knitting sequences to start our bonnets. There is room for you: join us on the 20th November!

2nd Knitting Workshop

Today was the 6th session of the Knitting Workshop. Most of us have our projects well advanced. One of the neck warmer scarves is already finished, as seen in the black, white, grey and beige pattern in the photo. Follow us and the knitting of our neck warmer scarves!
Follow us and keep up with the progress of our projects!	The neck warmer scarves begin to take shape. The pattern designs and chromatic textures gain visibility.	Today was the last of February sessions of the 2nd Knitting Workshop. Some of us started knitting with different coulours, and the jacquard technique will eventually create the pattern. But not all of us joined the neck warmer scarf project, allowing the development of other knitting ideas. Follow us and keep up with the progress of our projects!

	Today was the 3rd session of the 2nd Knitting Workshop of VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa. Most of the participants are about to finish the ribbed pattern around the neck warmer scarf. The ribbed pattern has six rows, alternating single knit stitches with single purl stitches and, thus, creating very narrow columns. The next step will be the introduction of colour and the jacquard pattern. Who has been following our work?	Knitting join in the around means that you must take your right-hand needle (or the left for left-handed) and go into the first stitch on the other side of the cable pushing your needle and then taking the yarn and knitting your first purl or knit stitch into it. Stay connected to the progression of our workshop.
Today took place the 2nd session of the 2nd Knitting Workshop of VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa. In today’s session we planned the execution of the jacquard neck warmer scarf: we choose two / four colours; counted the number of seed stiches necessary for the pattern, and casted-on the yarn threads (we folded the flexible cable of the circular needle, joining the two ends, and assembled 144 stitches).		The 2nd Knitting Workshop, a partnership between VESTE and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa, started today. The new challenge is to knit a jacquard neck warmer scarf creating a colourful pattern using two or four colours. This neck warmer scarf requires specific needles (short circular, size US 4 / UK9) and yarns (2 plies). We employed today’s session choosing the colours and unwinding hanks of yarn into balls of wool. Follow our projects on social networks and website!
The 2nd Knitting Workshop is coming! A partnership between VESTE project and the Associação Salva a Lã Portuguesa, the Workshop will have 16 sessions, always on Wednesdays, between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Dates are showed on the image and the "Events" tab on our website. The Workshop will take place at Colégio Almada Negreiros (CAN), room SA (floor -1). Sessions are entrance free and do not require registration. Show up!
